15 spring coffee dates
Hello friends. Welcome back to Exploring Over Coffee Today. We are welcoming in the start of spring with 15 fun coffee date ideas that you can explore with your bestie or your partner. I'm Alexis Renae, your host of Exploring Over Coffee. I'm so excited to explore these date ideas with you, painting in the park, colorful sip, and strolls, and many more adventure ideas are ahead.
Brew a warm beverage for our conversation today. I'm enjoying a cup of matcha. Maybe that's what you wanna sip on as well. Whatever drink you choose, lean back, unwind, and get ready for our conversation today, where we will explore 15 spring coffee dates. Ah, it is so nice that spring is finally here. I'm sure I'm not the only one that's been feeling the need for some more sunshine and warm weather. Nothing against winter, but I am ready for brighter days. What is really special about the spring is the fact that it grows out of something so dim and so cold. It comes from winter. So all those little things that we take for granted in the rest of the year become that much more important in the springtime.
Better weather means that you can have your coffee breaks outside. You can say hi to people as you pass, enjoy nature, and soak up some vitamin D.
That new spring energy is what inspired my brew for thought that I'm sharing with you today. Let's soak up these words of wisdom from actor Robin Williams. Before we dive into our coffee break ideas, he says, spring is nature's way of saying, let's party.
I couldn't agree more. A little gratitude, creativity, and joy are all you need to start celebrating the season. So let's start exploring Spring together. It's time to open up our Adventure Guide book to check out those coffee date ideas that you can savor all season long.
Okay, so the first adventure idea on our list is the colorful sip and stroll. This was inspired by Color Walks. You may have heard about this mindfulness exercise on Instagram or other social media sites, so that's where you choose one color and head out for a walk and see. Recognize where you see that color in nature.
You can take pictures about every time that you see the color pink, for example, when you're out and about. So I said to myself, "Why don't we take that concept to the next level?" Choose a color and represent that in your clothes that you wear when you go out for your coffee date, and in the beverages that you enjoy, in the treats that you savor.
Let's go back to that color green, that matcha that we mentioned. If I chose green as my color, I could wear my green bracelet. I can go on the coffee date with my bestie, and we can enjoy matcha together. Then once we're done, we can look for that light, refreshing shade of green everywhere that we go.
In nature,
So hopefully that's a fun date idea that you and your friend can explore. That's definitely the first one that I'll be trying out from this list.
The second idea is swapping spring reads. So if you love reading as much as I do, meet with your partner at a bookstore or your local library. Find a book for each other and then discuss the reason why you picked those books over coffee. If your location has a cafe on site, definitely sit there and enjoy. If not, stop by a nearby cafe, soak up some sunshine on a stroll, and swap those books for each other, and then you have a built in follow up date idea.
You can meet up again to talk about your progress exploring those books.
The third date idea is to meet at a scenic cafe location. Look for those places that weave nature into their decor. Maybe there are places where you can sit down and overlook the city.
If it's a rooftop cafe or if it's a patio right there in the middle of the hustle and bustle of town. It's a moment to just, have more vitamin D, more engagement with your local community.
Another way to celebrate the start of the season together. Journaling. Take that special pause for intention setting together. Meet at a. Park or an outdoor cafe spot, like how we talked about in the previous example, and work through some spring reflection prompts together. I'll put a link to the spring reset episode of Exploring Over Coffee because there's some good mindfulness exercises in that episode.
But I will also give you a prompt right here, right now, for our weekly reflective writing session. So what I want you to do is draw a straight line down the middle of your paper and then put another line at the top horizontally on the left side of your straight line. Put. What you are letting go a list of items that you're letting go of, and on the right side of the line, what are you welcoming? What are you growing into, right?
So again, left side, let go, and right side grow. And then just brainstorm those different things in your personal life, in your professional life, social life, those different aspects of yourself that you are ready to leave behind as you enter a new beginning, and things that you're ready to explore more of, to bring more intention to explore those things in your life.
And this is a great coffee date to have quarterly with your bestie or your partner, or once a month, check in with each other, see how progress is going, and have an uplifting and inspiring conversation about how to grow and explore, and pour more into your lives.
If you love getting hands-on and getting crafty, I recommend building bouquets for each other as a coffee date activity. Okay? So you can do the traditional exchanging of floral bouquets with each other. Or you can get more creative. Maybe you take a flower arranging class together, or maybe visiting a flower shop or a farmer's market is part of the date experience in itself. Choose flowers that represent your person and your relationship with them, how much you value their energy and spirit.
If you wanna get more creative, you can try building bouquets out of other materials. I don't know if you've seen online, sometimes people will make bouquets of someone's favorite snacks, for example. So maybe those are the snacks that you eat on your coffee break. You know, you drop in some, I don't know, pretzels or some veggies or maybe some candy that the person enjoys, and you can enjoy eating that bouquet together on your coffee date. And of course, I have to mention this, I'm sitting here at my desk looking at my Lego flower bouquet, so I have to mention it. If you guys love Legos, you can pick up a flower bouquet set. They're so much fun.
I built one with my brother last fall, so I definitely recommend that as an activity as well. Pick out a Lego based flower bouquet and spend your date sipping coffee and putting those Lego pieces together. It's something to hold onto and remember the date and remember how much you care for the other person, right?
So it'll make you smile every time you look at it.
Get into that secret garden adventuring spirit, and check out a flower farm or a botanic garden together. Getting this on your calendar early helps make sure that you visit those places at. Peak bloom. I always go to the uh, US botanic garden in DC, and they have an outdoor rose garden, so it's always really beautiful catching that place at peak bloom.
So if you're in the DC area, I definitely recommend their outdoor rose garden. And just in general, look on different websites and see when Botanic Gardens collections reach their peak. And then again for flower farms. There's so many different types of flower farms out there. Make sure that you create time in your schedule to check out one of those spots with your friend. Bring coffee with you so that you can energize before you head out to take cute pictures together in the flowers.
Okay, so if you've ever wanted to channel your inner Bob Ross, why not take your canvas to your local park? I love watching Bob Ross, and I'm always amazed at how he can just bring trees to life and streams, and every detail that he adds is so intentional. But you know, he'll say, if there's an accident, if there's an issue, just make it.
Part of the canvas, those happy little accidents. So I'm still practicing my painting skills as well, but this is a great exercise for growing artistic skill. So yeah, go with your partner, go to a park, take a look around, explore the scenery with intention, and then try to recreate the energy and the warmth of your park on your canvas.
If you love shopping local and supporting small businesses, then take your coffee date to your local farmer's market. Have a little meetup there. It's an opportunity to sample goods, maybe even coffee brews while you're there, while also picking up fresh Spring.
Produce. Chat with vendors, engage with your community, see what other offers and opportunities might be happening as we're moving more into the spring season. You never know what you'll discover when you check out local farmers' market events.
Have a picnic. You can have a baking session or a smoothie making session with your partner, with your bestie, maybe you practice making different coffee drinks at home, and then enjoying sipping on those drinks at your local park in your picnic.
On our Substack newsletter, I have a new thing going where I create a community board once a month, and I share Brew of the Month with you there. So this month's Brew of the Month, it was actually a matcha latte. Maybe you can enjoy. Creating that matcha latte with your partner at home, following the video from our community board, and then sipping on the drink at your picnic coffee date.
If you're feeling adventurous and have a love of nature, I highly recommend going to a butterfly sanctuary. It is so fun. I went to one, near Hershey Park, a couple years ago and just had a really fun time seeing all the different butterflies.
So that is a fun thing that you can do to celebrate the spring season as well. Maybe you drink your coffee before you go to the sanctuary to rev up, or maybe you have an after as a little debrief session. So yeah, grab your partner and surprise them with a trip to a butterfly sanctuary.
Another great thing that you can do as the seasons change is practice a new skill. By the time you make it through to the end of spring, you will be excited to know that you took the time to learn something new. You know, it's something that can become a larger hobby, something that can pour into the rest of your life.
So it's. Speaking of pouring, why not take your coffee date to a latte art class? Latte art, oh my gosh. There's so many fun seasonal designs that you can create, so you can make flower designs like tulips or roses, or you could do that classic leaf design. You could even do a heart to show how much you love your coffee date, right?
Another fun date idea for celebrating your love of coffee is going to a cupping event. That's where you get to sample different coffee roasts, brews, and blends of different origins. You know, coffee's made around the world, so why not go to a tasting event to celebrate it?
Go to a chocolate tasting, a fruit tasting, a honey tasting, even cheese tasting, whatever types of beverages or foods that you enjoy. I am sure your foodie coffee date will love to have that as a memory shared between the two of you.
Another fun way to engage with your community on your date is celebrating a spring festival. So again, get those calendars out early to see what local spring festivals are happening in your area. So, for me, I live again in the DC area. One of those big cultural festivals is the National Cherry Blossom Festival. That festival recognizes the gift that the Japanese people gave to the United States a century ago. They gave us cherry blossom trees as a sign of friendship and peace and new beginnings and renewal.
So the Cherry Blossom Festival that happens each year honors that phase of when the cherry blossom trees reach their peak. That festival starts late March, around the 20th every year, and it'll continue until mid-April. There are lots of events, there are workshops, there are different food and drink offers at different cafes and restaurants throughout the city. And there's even a parade, which I've actually walked in, a little fun fact. I walked in the National Cherry Blossom Parade three times. So yeah, I definitely recommend that as a fun experience. Some of those different activities are available online, and again, check out the spring festivals happening in your area as well. There are holidays that happen each month, like Earth Day and St.
Patrick's Day. Maybe there are even festivals that coincide with different blooms coming to life at different parts of the year. Check out those calendars, do a little research, and set aside some time for a festive coffee date adventure.
If you're looking for more ways to celebrate the season and embrace your bloom, download the Spring Adventure Guidebook. This ebook is here to help you check off your seasonal bucket list. So check out the link in the episode description to start exploring what's inside that Spring Adventure Guidebook.
Head to your museum to see if there are any new exhibits on display. Maybe there are things related to the spring season, new art, collections, science, culture, and history. See, soak up, explore, and engage. Some museums actually have cafes inside, so you can have your date there
and there might even be events that happen at museums this season. Maybe there are tours, maybe there are workshops, maybe there are parties, so again, I can't emphasize enough. Set that intention nice and early so that you can line up your different coffee dates with fun things that are happening all around you this season.
The last coffee date on our list is savoring a cultural activity. If you go to an African cafe or you're savoring a brew of Latin American coffee, go to an event, take a class, take a workshop that aligns with that culture. Maybe it's a dance class, an African dance class, or maybe you check out a Latin American movie. You know, see ways that you can dive deeper into the culture.
Appreciate a tour or a book. Or shop at a small business that represents where your coffee comes from. So even if you're staying home, even if you're still local, you can feel like you went on a little adventure, you traveled, and at the same time, you're supporting your community. So I think that's a really beautiful way to bring together coffee culture and the new spring season.
Which coffee date idea are you trying first? I think that I'm starting my season with that colorful sip and stroll. Let me know in the comments which coffee date idea you're ready to try first.
So yeah, with all of these coffee date ideas in hand, I hope that they give you inspiration. I know that spring is a reminder that anything is possible. It is an opportunity to embrace positivity and move forward with light and warmth.
So I cannot emphasize enough. Reconnect with your community, get intentional with connecting with people, savoring experiences, slowing down, and having some fun. Take that time for joy to pour into yourself and move forward with intention and excitement.
I look forward to savoring all of these different adventure ideas, and I hope that you can do the same this season. Get creative, see what you can explore, how you can savor this season and create light and warmth in your life.
